Guardians of the Galaxy #7

Overall- Well, this issue wasn't as great as the prior 6 issues of this series have been, but that seems to be due to the fact that this issue is pretty much just a set-up issue for future events. So, basically nothing of overwhelming importance happened. That's OK, because for a set-up issue, this one wasn't that bad.

We find out that the Guardians pretty much broke up after the events of last issue, and only Rocket Raccoon and Mantis remain on Knowhere, the Guardians headquarters. Rocket is forced to put a new team of Guardians together after getting reports of an attack on a peaceful planet. Rocket recruits Groot(who has finally grown back up), Mantis, Major Victory, and Bug(UGH...) and the 5 of them report to the damaged planet. They ultimately discover that the Badoon are responsible for the attack, and that the Badoon have very large, undead weapons at their disposal!

OK, so what happened to the other members of the Guardians you ask? Drax and Quasar left together, and have been trying to hunt down Cammi, the girl Drax had been traveling with until one of the Annihilation events(sorry, but I just can't remember which one. I think the second one...). Unfortunately, Drax and Quasar keep running into dead ends. After the 9th or 10th planet though, they run into a strange alien who says he can help them find "the girl". Drax asks the alien if he means Cammi, but the alien says not Cammi, Heather... Oh no... PLEASE not Moondragon... I can honestly say I have ZERO interest in seeing Moondragon come back. I mean that. I really hate Moondragon. I've always hated Moondragon, no matter what Marvel has done with the character... Dammit...

Meanwhile, in another part of the galaxy, we find Adam Warlock and Gamora battling some goons from the Universal Church of Truth. Adam has been collecting information on the UCT, and has decided that the best way to deal with them is to take them over. Huh, that sounds alot more like Adam's evil half, Magus talking. Interesting.

Back on Knowhere, Cosmo is talking to Starhawk, who reveals that the future is in shambles because of some kind of event occurring in the present. Starhawk doesn't reveal what this event is, but I have a sneaking suspicion it probably has something to do with the "War of Kings" storyline Marvel is putting together in its cosmic titles. I think I'll dedicate a quick post to War of Kings after I finish posting this...

Finally, we discover that Star-Lord was bound in some yellow chains and forcefully sent to the Negative Zone. Star-Lord lands with a thud, and stands up to see Blastaar, surrounded by thousands of followers sitting in a throne chair, welcoming him to the Negative Zone. Now the question is who sent Star-Lord to the Negative Zone and why.

Alot happened in this issue, and alot of it seems to be setting up the upcoming "War of Kings" crossover. All in all, this was a good issue, not up to the high bar set by the last couple of issues, but not at all bad either. For a score, I'll give this issue a 8 out of 10.
