Invincible #84:
What Happened: Cecil Stedman brings Invincible to the former site of Las Vegas to show that the government had decided to erect massive solar panels in the place of the city which would provide cheap power throughout much of the west. Invincible realizes that was what Dinosaurus's plan was all along and decides to spring Dinosaurus from the Pentagon with the hope being they could use Dinosaurus's ideas to help the planet without all of that pesky city destroying and people killing that most of Dinosaurus's plans entailed.
The Good: The blurb for the next issue showed Invincible's little brother, Oliver! As usual, Cecil Stedman stole the show, because he is, as I've stated on numerous occasions to anybody who'd listen to me, awesome.
The Bad: Invincible siding with Dinosaurus, a known murderer and the individual responsible for destroying Las Vegas is ALL kinds of wrong. Invincible and Dinosaurus easily escaping the Invincible-Reanimen was pretty sad... We STILL don't know how Robot and Monster Girl got older and what went wrong with their relationship... I'm starting to think we'll never learn what happened...
The Verdict: Well, this issue was interesting. And not necessarily for the right reasons... I don't see how Invincible can possibly rationalize teaming with Dinosaurus after what happened to Las Vegas. That would be like Batman suddenly realizing that Ra's Al Ghul was right all along and the human race DID need to be cut down a bit. All I can think is that after the Viltrumite War, learning about Atom Eve and his baby, and the destruction of Las Vegas, Invincible is headed towards a massive, Hank Pym style nervous breakdown. Because really, that's the only explanation for his recent actions.
Score: 7 1/2 out of 10.
I'm not exactly sure what Cecil is doing, but I'm sure whatever it is, it's awesome.
